How to Use LinkedIn Live with Zoom

2023-02-14

Live streaming is becoming an increasingly popular way for businesses to engage with their audience, both in the B2B and B2C markets. LinkedIn has quickly become a popular tool for connecting with business clients and building your professional network(s). Like Facebook, it has its own livestreaming feature now, making it even more convenient and useful to people looking to promote their business or build their client base.

Of course, before you can dive into livestreaming and just get to making videos, you have to make sure that your Zoom client and your LinkedIn account are ready for the streaming experience. Here’s what you need to know.

LinkedIn accessibility and settings

Anyone attempting to stream on LinkedIn Live will need to have a page or profile that’s been approved to use this feature. If it’s a page instead of a single profile, the person that is running the livestream needs to be an admin on the page and have approval to use the LinkedIn Live feature.

You can visit https://www.linkedin.com/video/golive/now/ to start a new stream. Simply find the “new stream” tab and click the “go live now” option. There will be an option to “create a post” and then you can select the page that you want to stream to. Add a title for the stream and pick your region, and then you’ll be able to get a custom URL for the livestream.

This will come in handy when you get to the streaming details on Zoom.

Setting up your Zoom client

You can use Zoom to livestream on several different platforms. You can livestream both webinars and meetings, and you can choose to have the live streaming enabled for an entire account, a group, or a user, depending on what you have in mind. Simply go to the correct settings (standard settings for user, account management settings for accounts, etc.) and then:

·  In meeting (Advanced) > Allow live streaming of meetings > Custom live streaming service > Save

·  In meeting (Advanced) > Allow live streaming of webinars > Custom live streaming service > Save

Then, you’ll have to add all of the details of your custom stream (created through the steps in the LinkedIn section above) to Zoom. It’s a simple process:

1. Click “Schedule a meeting”

2. Enter all required information

3. Click “Save” (this will generate tabs with advanced options)

4. Click “Live streaming” and then “Configure custom streaming service”

5. Copy the Stream Key and your Stream URL from the LinkedIn tool and paste into your Zoom client

6. Enable authentication if necessary

7. Copy the link from the Live Streaming Page URL to share with your audience

8. Click “Save”

Once everything is ready to go, all that’s left is to start the meeting or webinar and then generate the live feed. You can start the meeting from your calendar, your scheduled meetings list, or even from the website itself. In the controls, you’ll see a “more” button. Click that and then select “Live on custom live stream service” to generate a preview of your live feed from Zoom.

When you’re ready, just hit “Go live” and when you’re done, you can simply end the Zoom call, or you can actually click the “End stream” option to stop the live feed.

If you get stuck, both LinkedIn and Zoom have resource pages to help you through the process, step by step, depending on what you’re trying to accomplish.

Five reasons to add live streaming to your marketing and engagement strategies

For those who aren’t as familiar with livestreaming and how popular it has become, we want to talk a little more about what you can actually gain here. It’s a simple enough process, as you can see, and it offers a whole new way to engage with your users. There are several perks to be had from incorporating the option to live stream via social media, including:

·  It forces your audience to engage with you on your time, not theirs.

·  It allows your users to connect with you anywhere in the world and on any device.

·  Live streaming creates a stronger connection with your audience because they know the video isn’t pre-recorded.

·  You have a wide selection of options for content to share via livestreams, helping you engage several different audiences with one unique tool.

·  This is also a cost-effective option. If you’re doing it yourself, it costs zero dollars and can reach millions of prospects. You don’t find that kind of deal very often in the marketing and branding world.

There are literally dozens of different perks that you could find from incorporating live streaming as part of your strategy. However, these five are a good inspiration to at least give it a shot and start finding the rewards for yourself.
